I'm not sure how they make cheese sauce zero points. I don't think it's actually cheese, just cheese flavored which is questionable.
Abigail was kind enough to share her cheese sauce recipe which she and her family love over broccoli or baked potatoes. It makes approx 2 cups. Serving size 1/4 cup is 2.5 points.
2 tbsp Shedd's Spread Country Crock Vegetable Oil Spread
2 1/2 tsp all-purpose flour
1 cup 1% low fat milk
1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
3 slices 2% milk American cheese (sliced)
1-1/4 cups Sargento Reduced Sodium Mild Cheddar Shredded Cheese
Heat the oil spread on low heat until it melts. Whisk in flour. Continue stirring for a few minutes to activate the starch granules. Do not let the flour brown. Add cold milk and whisk well. Add Worcestershire sauce and whisk. Simmer low for about 5 minutes. Add cheeses, mix well and remove from heat immediately to prevent cheese from becoming lumpy or curdled (never allow cheese to boil).
